SUSAN HOPKINS, ASID

At twelve years old, I had just reorganized (and moved) the furniture in the bedroom my sister and I shared for the fifth time that year, when my mom took me to the library, and said, “you know there’s a career for what you’re doing”, and showed me the section for Interior Design, Decorating and Architecture.

After reading and flipping through all coffee table books full of images of designed spaces I could, it led to a deepened appreciation for art, which I already loved, and an addition for architecture, and interior design. Four years of an incredible art program, and architecture classes, led to four years at Drexel University’s top 10 Interior Design program in the nation.

Since the age of four, I had been developing a passionate love and privileged experiences and education from very gifted professionals in the arts of dance, fine arts, musical theatre, choreography, set, prop, and costume design, as well as singing and acting. These experiences helped to sculpt who I am today as a designer, project manager, problem solver, and a human. It was a privilege an honor to learn from and ultimately work beside passionate professionals in one of the highest pressure deadline environments I’ve experienced.

DESIGN APPROACH

Translating the dreams you have for the atmospheres and environments in your home, into the

The required characteristics, passionate determination, talents and capabilities required to successfully and seamlessly design and install the sculpted spaces that change lives, practically mirror those necessary to pull off the intricacies and problem solving acuities required to pull off a seamless and successful theatrical production.

My unique background full of multilevel foundations built up within the creative, fine and theatrical arts is what I believe genuinely sets my design perspective, passionate expression, and the application of these visions into its translated reality.

With every space I design and bring to fruition, there are many individual elements carefully selected, ultimately culminating into the inviting and uniquely customized atmospheres desired by my clients.
